MARINE CORPS AIR STATION BEAUFORT, S.C. --
On the morning of July 27, 2018, a search and rescue (SAR) exercise is scheduled to be conducted in the Beaufort River in the vicinity of U.S. Naval Hospital / Naval Support Facility Beaufort. During the time of the exercise, there will be an increase in U.S. military helicopter traffic and local authority boat traffic near the Naval Hospital.
The exercise is being conducted to rehearse SAR techniques in the event that a future SAR is necessary. Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort tenant units will work in conjunction with the Navy, Coast Guard and local authorities to increase the interoperability between military and civilian first responders.
