Students attend an Earth Day assembly at Middleton S. Elliott Elementary School aboard Laurel Bay April 22. Students drew Earth Day related artwork for a competition judged by the recycling department aboard Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort. Teresa Karlyk, an art teacher, helped the students create designs that fit the Earth Day theme. Military police from Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort and Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island are the first responders for security threats aboard either installation or military housing facility. The purpose of this exercise is to test the capabilities and procedures of the Marine Corps and Coast Guard in a real world scenario.
