Tri-Command service members participated in the Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony at the Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort, Nov. 11.The annual event is held to recognize Beaufort's veterans and active duty service members. During the parade, the streets were lined with people waving American flags and cheering as the color guard, the Parris Island Marine Band, veterans and active duty service members and local organizations paraded through the streets. Marines, veterans and their families gathered at the Yemassee train station for the 2nd Annual Yemassee Train Depot Reunion Oct. 16. Yemassee was the first stop for eager recruits seeking to earn the title United States Marine before reaching Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island from 1915 to 1965. The Great SouthEast ShakeOut is a multi-state earthquake drill spanning much of the southeast.
