The 2011 Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort Air Show received industry-wide recognition after winning 1st place for Best Website and 3rd place for Best Air Show Marketing Campaign during an International Council of Air Shows marketing competition recently presented in Las Vegas.

The 2011 air show was the first year that the marketing team participated in the competition, said Kelly Jones, an Air Station MCCS marketing technician.

The competition was formed to recognize organizations who have displayed an excellence in artistry and creativity within the air show industry.

“It’s an astonishing honor to be chosen to receive this award,” said Jones. “We did our best with what we were given and it paid off immensely.”

According to Jones, the air show was pitted against larger air shows with higher marketing budgets than the Beaufort Air Show.

“It’s definitely similar to being chosen as a little fish in a big pond in comparison with the amount and size of organizations who register in the competition,” said Jones.

One of the reasons that the Beaufort Air Show placed so highly during the competition was due to the amount of creative participation from local businesses during the air shows marketing campaign, according to Jennifer Moneagle, an Air Station MCCS marketing director.

“We are incredibly proud to have brought this to the local community,” said Moneagle. “We wouldn’t have been able to have won without the sponsorship and creative partnership of local businesses.”

“We look forward to next year and hope that the air show will be as great a success this year as it was last year.
