Lieutenant Colonel Steinhauser is a native of DeForest, Wisconsin and a 2005 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.  Upon graduation from the Basic School in Quantico Virginia, Second Lieutenant Steinhauser reported to Naval Air Station Pensacola for Naval Aviation Training.  First Lieutenant Steinhauser was designated a Naval Aviator on 7 March 2008 and then reported to HMLA/T-303 at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Camp Pendleton, California for initial training in the AH-1W Cobra Attack Helicopter.

In August of 2008, First Lieutenant Steinhauser was assigned to HMLA-267 “Stingers”, serving as the Human Affairs Officer and Quality Assurance Officer. During this tour he completed deployments with HMM-262 “Flying Tigers” in support of the 31^st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) and to Helmand Provence, Afghanistan flying combat missions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

In May 2012, Captain Steinhauser reported to 1^st Battalion, 5^th Marines as a Forward Air Controller. During this period he deployed in support of the 31^st MEU.

In August of 2013, Captain Steinhauser reported to HMLA-367 “Scarface” at MCAS Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.   During this tour served as the Pilot Training Officer, Current Operations Officer, attended the School of Aviation Safety, Weapons and Tactics Instructor course and deployed with VMM-265 “Dragons” in support of the 31^st MEU. 

In August of 2016, Major Steinhauser was assigned to United States Pacific Command and served in a joint billet as a Plans Officer, Command and Control Branch Chief, and Australian Military Working group lead.

In September 2018, Major Steinhauser was assigned to HMLA-369 “Gunfighters” at MCAS Camp Pendleton, California where he served as the Director of Safety and Standardization and Squadron Logistics Officer. During this tour he transitioned to the AH-1Z Attack Helicopter and deployed as VMM-265 “Dragons” Detachment OIC H-1 Det 31^st MEU.

In August of 2021, Major Steinhauser reported to MCAS Beaufort and served as Airfield Operations Officer. On 15 August 2022, Lieutenant Colonel Steinhauser assumed his current duties as the Executive Officer of Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort.

Lieutenant Colonel Steinhauser has accumulated over 2700 flight hours in Naval Aircraft. His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal with Strike/Flight numeral 6, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
