Cpl. Oubigee Jones stands in the gym where he trains nearly every day aboard Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, Aug. 30. Jones began fighting when he was eight years old. “I grew up in the streets of south Dallas, the hood basically. Everyone started fighting at a young age, whether it be to defend themselves or to earn their stripes.” Jones is an administrative specialist with Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron.

MARINE CORPS AIR STATION BEAUFORT, S.C. - Cpl. Oubigee Jones warms up before a boxing session aboard Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, Aug. 30. “Just like with boxing, when you strike you are reaching forward, off balance; it’s the same with the Marine Corps,” said Jones, an administrative specialist with Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron. “I have to reach, push myself beyond what I can do to find that balance in life.” Jones is an administrative specialist with Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron.
