Sergeant Major Stewart was born in Carthage, Texas. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Delayed Entry Program in October 2003, and reported to recruit training at MCRD San Diego, California in June 2004. Following completion of recruit training, Sergeant Major Stewart attended Marine Corps Combat Training (MCT) at Camp Pendleton, California. Upon completion of MCT in November 2004 he reported to Camp Johnson, North Carolina for Personnel Administration School and graduated in December 2004, obtaining the military occupational specialty of 0121 (Personnel and Administration Marine).
Sergeant Major Stewart reported to his first duty station, Marine Aviation Detachment China Lake, California in January 2005 where he served as a Legal and Administration Marine. Sergeant Major Stewart was promoted to Lance Corporal on 1 March 2005 and Corporal on 1 September 2006. He completed Corporals Course at Camp Pendleton and shortly after, Sergeant Major Stewart was selected to compete in the Unit’s Meritorious Sergeant board, resulting in his meritorious promotion to Sergeant on 2 August 2007. In August 2007, Sergeant Major Stewart was transferred to the Inspector-Instructor Staff, India Company, 3d Battalion, 23d Marines, Little Rock, Arkansas where he served as the Personnel Chief and Administrative Chief. In January 2011, Sergeant Major Stewart was transferred to the Headquarters Support Battalion, Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina as a Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge in the Inbounds Branch, Installation Personnel Administration Center. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant on 1 April 2011.
In April 2012, Sergeant Major Stewart deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom Afghanistan attached to Counter Joint Task Force
(CJTF) Paladin, where he obtained his in-theater Counter Improvised Explosive Device Level II Awareness Instructor Certification. Serving on the CJTF Paladin Mobile Training Team, he instructed U.S. and coalition forces on the most current enemy tactics and equipment utilized to detect and defeat the IED threat to ground troops. In November 2012, Sergeant Major Stewart returned from deployment and graduated Career Course in June 2013.
In November 2013, Sergeant Major Stewart graduated Basic Recruiters School and was assigned as a Canvassing Recruiter to Recruiting Sub Station, Spartanburg, South Carolina. In March 2015, he was selected and transferred to become the Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of Recruiting Sub Station, Columbia, South Carolina. Sergeant Major Stewart was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant on 1 December 2015.
In May 2017, Sergeant Major Stewart was transferred to Helicopter Marine Light Attack Squadron 269, New River, North Carolina, where he served as the Squadron Gunnery Sergeant. He graduated Advance Course in August 2018 and was frocked to First Sergeant in June 2019.
In July 2019, Sergeant Major Stewart was transferred to 3d Maintenance Battalion, Camp Kinser, Okinawa where he was assigned as Company First Sergeant, Motor Transport Maintenance Company and Electronics Maintenance Company. In March of 2021, Sergeant Major Stewart served as the Senior Enlisted Leader for a company-size element of Marines formed by units throughout Okinawa in the execution of Basic Jungle Skills Course, Jungle Warfare Training Center, Camp Gonsalves.
Sergeant Major Stewart finished his tour in Okinawa by assisting in the establishment of an experimental unit identified as Intermediate Repair Company, consolidating maintainers throughout 3d Maintenance Battalion to create a scalable, versatile force consistent with Force Design 2030.
In September 2021, Sergeant Major Stewart was transferred to Inspector-Instructor Duty with 1st Battalion, 23d Marines where he served as the Inspector-Instructor First Sergeant for Alpha and Headquarter & Service Companies, Houston, Texas. He was selected to his current rank of Sergeant Major and promoted in February 2023.
Sergeant Major Stewart transferred to Marine Corps Air Station, Beaufort, South Carolina where he currently serves at the Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron Sergeant Major.
Sergeant Major Stewart has earned his Associates Degree in Management Studies. Sergeant Major Stewart’s awards include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars. Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with three gold stars, and the Recruiting Ribbon.
