MSgt Eric Taylor

Master Sergeant (MSgt) Eric R. Taylor is a native of Oklahoma City, OK.  He joined the Marine Corps in February 2002 and attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD), San Diego, CA.  In June 2002, he attended Marine Combat Training at Marine Corps Base (MCB) Camp Pendleton, CA.

In July 2002, Private First Class (PFC) Taylor attended Military Police (MP) Basic Course, Fort Leonard Wood, MO.  In October 2002, PFC Taylor was assigned to Provost Marshal’s Office (PMO), MCB Camp Lejeune, NC where he served as a Military Policeman.  In August 2003, Lance Corporal (LCpl) Taylor attended the Military Working Dog (MWD) Basic Handler’s Course, Lackland AFB, TX and returned to PMO Camp Lejeune, NC and was assigned as an Explosive and Narcotic dog handler in the MWD Section.  In December 2004, LCpl Taylor was assigned to 2D Military Police Battalion, 2D Force Service Support Group, MWD Section Camp Lejeune, NC as a MWD Handler.  In January 2005, Corporal (Cpl) Taylor deployed in support of Operation Iraq Freedom where he served as an Explosive Dog Handler.

In March 2006, Sergeant (Sgt) Taylor was assigned to Marine Corps Detachment, Lackland AFB, TX as a MWD Trainer.  In March 2007, Sgt Taylor attended the Air Force Basic Instructors Course and was later assigned as a MWD Instructor/MWD Senior Instructor.  In February 2008, Sgt Taylor completed Sergeants Course at Camp Lejeune, NC.  In May 2008, he received an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science from the Community College of the Air Force.  In November 2008, Sgt Taylor attended the Specialized Search Dog (SSD) Handler Course, Lackland AFB, TX.

In January 2009, Sgt Taylor was assigned to 3D Marine Expeditionary Forces (MEF), Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, MWD Section, Twenty-nine Palms, CA as a SSD handler, Chief Trainer and Assistant Kennel Master.  In February 2010, Sgt Taylor deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and was assigned to I MEF MWD Section as a SSD handler.  In June 2011, Staff Sergeant (SSgt) Taylor deployed in support of OEF as the Assistant Kennel Master for 3D MEF MWD Section.  He was PCA’ed to PMO, Headquarters Battalion as a Watch Commander and later as the Kennel Master. 

In December 2012, SSgt Taylor completed the MWD Kennel Masters Course.

In September 2013, SSgt Taylor was assigned to PMO, MCB Hawaii, HI and served as the Kennel Master, Special Operations Chief, and Assistant Operations Chief.  In April 2015, SSgt Taylor completed the Career Course.  From November 2015, Gunnery Sergeant (GySgt) Taylor served as the Assistant Operations Chief and Watch Commander.

In August 2016, GySgt Taylor was assigned to Headquarters Marine Corps, Plans, Policies and Operations, Security Division, Law Enforcement and Corrections Branch, MWD Section, Washington, DC.  During this tour he served as the MWD Program Chief and the 58XX formal schools training chief.

In August 2020, MSgt Taylor was assigned to PMO, MCAS Beaufort, SC as the Operations Chief and assumed duties as Provost Sergeant in June 2022.
