Although rain threatened to interrupt the event, Marine Corps Community Services adapted to the weather and held Eggstravaganza, an Easter celebration for the families of Marines and sailors within the Tri-Command at the Laurel Bay Youth Center, March 23.

The Easter celebration offered a unified get together throughout the Tri-Command and gave children the opportunity to learn about Easter and engage in several activities with their family and friends.

Even though it rained there were still activities for everyone to enjoy, said Shyy’Nara Davis, a 5th grade student from Galer Middle School. Free food and snacks were provided as well as arts and crafts, pictures with the Easter Bunny, music, a puppet show and two Easter egg hunts before the rain.

“The event gives the children an opportunity to see their friends from school and other children,” said Imani M. Graham, the assistant director for youth activities.

As the festivities came to an end the children walked out into the rain to go home with smiling faces, Easter baskets filled with treats and with faces decorated with paint.
