The pilot of the aircraft is one of four aviators in the Marine Division Tactics Course. In MDTC, aviators from MAG-31 are taught to be experts in air-to-air maneuvering within visual range and beyond visual range. The Marines with Expeditionary Firefighting Rescue conducted the training to prepare for and hone skills necessary to face real life scenarios. The training also served as an opportunity to strengthen camaradarie and enhance trust among the unit members. Thousands of Marines and civilian personnel drive on Geiger Boulevard to come arrive and depart Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort each day. The road was named after Gen. Roy S. Geiger, the fifth Marine aviator and first Marine to lead an Army. Geiger enlisted in the Marine Corps as a Private in November 1907 and attended basic training on Naval Station Norfolk, Va.
