Shelter-In-place
Shelter-In-Place or SIP is a means to provide low cost, short-term protection against the effects of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive agents/events or the accidental release of Hazardous Materials. The purpose of SIP is to use a structure and its indoor atmosphere to temporarily separate individuals from a hazardous outdoor atmosphere. SIP is intended only for a short duration until help arrives and an “all-clear” decision is announced. The pamphlet provided is intended to assist in SIP site selection, procedures and preparation.
