Shelter in Place

Shelter-In-place

Shelter-In-Place or SIP is a means to provide low cost, short-term protection against the effects of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive agents/events or the accidental release of Hazardous Materials. The purpose of SIP is to use a structure and its indoor atmosphere to temporarily separate individuals from a hazardous outdoor atmosphere. SIP is intended only for a short duration until help arrives and an “all-clear” decision is announced. The pamphlet provided is intended to assist in SIP site selection, procedures and preparation. For further information questions can be directed to Gary Hoffman in the MCAS Beaufort Mission Assurance section at (843)228-6068.
